Akhil Akkineni’s much-anticipated film Agent which was released on April 28 of this year failed to impress the audience and film maniacs. Released with high expectations, Agent gave us nothing but a huge disappointment. The film managed to mint Rs. 5 crores on its first day and take a sharp decline as it only collected a little more than Rs. 3 crores for the next two days.

The film was also trolled heavily on social media for its lousy storyline, poor direction, and over-the-top scenes among others. Taking responsibility for the failure of Agent, the film’s producer Anil Sunkara took to Twitter and wrote- ‘We have to take the entire blame for #Agent. Though we know its an uphill task, we thought of conquering but failed to do so as we did a blunder starting the project without a bound script & innumerable issues including covid followed. We don’t want to give any excuses but learn from this costly mistake and see how we can turnaround to make sure, we will never repeat the mistakes. Our sincere apologies to all those who put trust on us. We will make it up for the losses with dedicated planning & hardwork in our future projects.’

As we know, Agent is a spy action thriller directed by the renowned Telugu filmmaker Surender Reddy starring Akhil in the lead role. Apart from the lead character, Agent also starred Mammootty, Dino Morea, Sakshi Vaidya, Vikramjeet Virk and others in vital roles.

The film was bankrolled by AK Entertainment in association with Surender 2 Cinema. Made with a budget of Rs. 70 -80 crores, Agent not even grossed Rs. 10 crores within three days of its initial release.
