Pakistan is in the middle of a serious fuel crisis because of fighting in the Middle East that has messed up oil shipments. The government has declared an emergency and is making everyone save fuel right away.

Why Fuel Is Hard to Get

The trouble started when conflicts in the Middle East blocked a key waterway called the Strait of Hormuz. This strait is where most of the world’s oil ships travel, and Pakistan gets nearly all its oil from there. With shipments disrupted, fuel supplies have dropped sharply.

New Rules to Cut Fuel Use

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced strict rules on TV. Here’s what’s changing:

Work and School Adjustments

Government offices will switch to a four-day workweek. Half of the employees will work from home on a rolling schedule. Schools are closed for two weeks, but exams will still happen. Universities must hold all classes online to save on fuel for commuting.
