The Nalgonda SC and ST court has given a sensational verdict in the Pranay murder case, which has caused a sensation in the Telugu states. The court has sentenced Subhash Sharma, who was A2 in this case, to death. The remaining accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
On September 14, 2018, a man named Maruthi Rao from Miryalaguda town had a supari gang kill Pranay on the pretext of inter-caste marriage of his daughter. The police, who took the case seriously, completed the investigation and filed a charge sheet in the court in 2019, naming 8 people as accused.
The trial in the court lasted for more than 6 years, and the arguments were concluded recently. Maruthi Rao, the accused A1 in the Pranay murder case, committed suicide in 2020. The remaining accused in this case are A2 Subhash Kumar Sharma, A3 Asgar Ali, A4 Bari, A5 Karim, A6 Shravan Kumar, A7 Shiva and A8 Nizam.
Out of these, Subhash Sharma is in jail without bail, while Asgar Ali is in jail in another case. All the others have come out on bail. The accused have pleaded with the court to reduce the sentence for their dependent parents and children, citing health problems.
Amrutha’s father Shravan Kumar said that he has nothing to do with this case. He appealed to the court to show mercy as he has three unmarried children.
A young man named Pranay married Maruthi Rao’s daughter Amrutha in Hyderabad in January 2018. Their marriage led to differences between the two families. Due to this, both the families filed a complaint with the police.
In this process, Amrutha decided in the presence of the police that she would stay with Pranay. On September 14, 2018, Amrutha went to the hospital with her husband Pranay and mother-in-law Premalatha for a medical check-up. While returning from the hospital, Pranay was hacked to death by assailants. He died on the spot.
Subhash Sharma, who was sentenced to death, played a key role in Pranay’s murder. Amrutha’s father gave supari to terrorist Asghar Ali and got Pranay killed. Asghar Ali formed a gang of seven people. It is known that Asghar Ali formed a gang along with the accused in the murder case of former Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya.
Maruti Rao had killed Pranay with the supari gang on the pretext that he had married his daughter in an inter-caste marriage. The police department, which took this case seriously, completed the investigation from all angles and prepared a 1600-page charge sheet report.
