The death of one of the main witnesses in the murder case of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy is raising suspicions. Four key witnesses died under suspicious circumstances before the trial began in the CBI court. The family members of the recently deceased watchman Ranganna are demanding that the CBI expedite the investigation.
Moreover, YSR District SP Ashok Kumar said that there are many suspicions behind the mysterious deaths of four witnesses in a row in the case. He recalled that Srinivasula Reddy, Kuwait Gangadhar Reddy, YS Abhishek Reddy and Watchman Ranganna died. The SP said that all four died due to the same reason and said that the reasons behind their deaths will be identified.
Viveka was brutally murdered on March 15, 2019. So far, three SITs and a CBI investigation have been conducted, but the masterminds of the murder have not been identified. While the investigation has been going on for years, the death of key witnesses one by one is worrying.
The CBI, which started the investigation on July 18, 2020, has so far included 8 people in the case. Among them, except for Yerragangi Reddy, the remaining accused are out on bail. The suspicious death of Srinivasula Reddy during the SIT investigation caused a sensation at the time.
CI Sriram wrote separate letters to Jaganmohan Reddy and Bhaskar Reddy, saying that he was harassing them in the name of investigation, and drank insecticide. However, doubts have been raised about the differences in the way the letters were written, but they have not been resolved yet.
On June 9, 2022, Devireddy Sivashankar Reddy’s main aide Kuwait Gangadhar Reddy died under suspicious circumstances in Yadiki, Anantapur district. He gave a statement to the CBI in August 2021 that Sivashankar Reddy had offered him Rs. 10 crore if the Viveka case was filed against him.
Later, he complained to the Anantapur SP that CBI SP Ram Singh was harassing him. After that, the CBI is also suspicious about Gangadhar Reddy’s death.
Another key witness from the YS family, Dr. YS Abhishek Reddy, recently died while undergoing treatment in a Hyderabad hospital. He gave a statement to the CBI about the blood stains in Viveka’s house on the day of the murder, the way the body was tied up, and who was in the house. The fact that the young man Abhishek Reddy went into a coma for four months and died is also suspicious.
Watchman Ranganna is an eyewitness to the Viveka murder case. He saw the accused fleeing after the murder with his own eyes. He told the magistrate about the involvement of Yerragangi Reddy, Sunil Yadav, Umashankar Reddy, and Dastagiri.
Sunil Yadav, Umashankar Reddy, and Dastagiri jumped over the wall and fledwhile Erragangi Reddy came out through the main gate. Rangan, na testified that he was threatened with death if he revealed this matter. Being an eyewitness, Ranganna’s house has been provided with security by a constable for the past four years.
Though he has been suffering from a respiratory disease for the past two years, no efforts were made by CBI officials on his treatment. His wife Susheelamma expressed doubts about Ranganna’s death. Due to this, a post-mortem was conducted on the body. Although the statements of about 250 witnesses have been recorded so far in the Viveka case, the death of Ranganna, who witnessed the murder, has become a bit of a problem.
