Industries Minister TG Bharath told the AP Legislative Assembly that the food processing policy has been brought to attract investments of Rs 30,000 crore through food processing. He revealed that employment generation will also take place in large numbers in food processing.
The minister answered the question on food processing during the Question Hour and explained that a campaign will be conducted on the incentives being given to the industry in all district centers and zones. He said that special attention will also be paid to organic farming.
The minister explained the issues asked by BJP Legislative Party Leader Vishnu Kumar Raju and other members. He said that three mega food processing parks and 10 clusters have been set up. He said that AP is at the top in aqua and shrimp exports. He revealed that 1,000 acres of the previously allocated lands near Krishnapatnam Port will be developed as an industrial park.
He said that Reliance Power, which came forward to set up an ultra-mega power plant in 2008, was allotted 2603 acres at that time, but the company made it clear that the project was not viable due to changes in the policies related to Indonesian coking coal. He revealed that although it was said that it would set up a green ammonia and hydrogen plant next, there is no further viability and now it has submitted a DPR for the manufacture of solar panels.
Bharath revealed that a decision will be taken and approved by the State Investment Promotion Board. The minister was replying to a question asked by Sarvepalli MLA Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on this. Meanwhile, Aamudalavalasa MLA Kuna Ravikumar commented that the division of new districts without prior thought has put people in serious trouble.
He questioned whether a presidential notification has been given for the division of districts? He commented on whether this division process is actually legal? He revealed that locality and non-locality issues cause problems for people. He said that the judiciary and local bodies have not been divided so far. He said that it is regrettable that 26 districts do not have collector offices.
