In an unexpected turn of events, Risabh Shetty’s much-anticipated prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, gets a major setback with a temporary halt of its shooting. A minibus carrying junior artists working on this project has overturned, leading to an unfortunate accident. Here are the details:

The mishap occurred late Sunday night when the minibus carrying 20 junior artists from the Kantara Chapter 1 overturned. The accident took place when they were travelling back to Kollur after finishing a shoot at Mudoor in Jadkal.

According to News 18, six junior artists with severe injuries were rushed to the Mahalakshmi Clinic in Jadkal for medical attention. The Kollur police are currently investigating the accident.

Speaking about Kantara: Chapter 1, the film is the prequel to 2022’s blockbuster hit ‘Kantara.’ Earlier, the filmmakers unveiled the first-look poster and teaser. Following them, earlier this month, they announced the highly anticipated release date, revealing that the film will hit theaters on October 2, 2025.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the movie is being produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the prestigious banner of Hombale Films, starring Risabh Shetty in the main lead, with Jayaram, Jisshu Sengupta, and others in significant roles. Scheduled for a pan-Indian release, it is set to release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

On the work front, the actor was confirmed to be part of Prasanth Varma’s cinematic universe (PVCU) in the upcoming film ‘Jai Hanuman’ helmed by Prasanth.
