Friday, July 11, 2025
Bollywood actress Kajol has clarified her recent comments about Ramoji Film City, stating that they were made in the context of promoting her upcoming film Maa. The clarification comes amid a wave of criticism on social media, where users accused her of making sensational remarks for publicity.
Taking to social media platform X, Kajol stated, “My comments about Ramoji Film City were made during the promotional activities for my new film Maa. I have worked on several films that were shot at Ramoji, and I have been hosted there many times over the years. It offers an ideal environment for filmmaking. I have often observed enthusiastic tourists there. It is a wonderful destination and one of the safest places for families and children.”
Directed by Vishal Furia, Maa is a mythological horror film in which Kajol plays the lead role. The film explores the story of a mother who fights to protect her daughter from evil forces. It is scheduled for release on June 27.
During a recent promotional event, Kajol commented that she had experienced “negative vibes” while shooting at Ramoji Film City, though she added, “By God’s grace, I never saw anything.” The remarks drew backlash from netizens, many of whom criticised the actress for allegedly promoting superstition and undermining the hard work of those employed at the facility.
One social media user commented, “Many people work overnight to prepare sets for early morning shoots. It’s unfair to make such remarks for the sake of film promotion.” Another user added, “Using fear and superstition as promotional tools is in poor taste.”
Kajol’s clarification aims to address the concerns raised and reaffirm her appreciation for Ramoji Film City as a key production and tourism hub. The incident has reignited discussions around responsible commentary during promotional campaigns.
