The family dispute involving leading Tamil actor Jayam Ravi has taken a serious turn, with his mother-in-law and film producer Sujatha Vijayakumar levelling grave allegations against him. While Ravi’s divorce proceedings with his wife Aarti remain sub judice, Sujatha has issued a formal statement accusing the actor of financial misconduct and broken commitments.
In her statement, Sujatha claimed that she entered the film production business with Jayam Ravi’s encouragement and went on to produce several of his films, including Adanga Maru, Bhoomi, and Siren. “I treated him like my own son. To fund these films, I borrowed close to ₹100 crore from financiers. Of that amount, 25 percent was paid to Jayam Ravi as remuneration. I have the necessary documentation to substantiate these claims,” she said.
Sujatha alleged that despite the mounting financial burden and personal sacrifices she endured, Ravi failed to fulfil his assurances. “I have led a life without peace due to these debts. I was solely responsible for paying the interest. During the production of Siren, he promised to act in another film under my banner to help cover the losses, but he never followed through. Nor did he offer any assistance in repaying the loans,” she added.
Expressing emotional anguish, Sujatha remarked that Jayam Ravi once affectionately called her Amma, but recent developments have left her disillusioned. “It’s painful to see him make allegations now for sympathy. It feels as though the image of him as a hero is fading. Still, I hope he remains a true hero in every sense,” she concluded.
The statement has added a new dimension to the ongoing legal and personal issues facing the actor, drawing widespread attention from both the public and film industry circles.
