Tollywood’s much-awaited pan-India film Jatadhara has run into a huge snag. Venkat Kalyan directs the movie, which stars Sudheer Babu in the lead, with Bollywood starlet Sonakshi Sinha set to make her Tollywood debut. Yet, in spite of all the hype around the project, it is now involved in financial issues and a legal battle that may affect its fate.
The movie is co-produced by Content Film Productions and SKG Entertainment, but the two production houses have fallen out. Reports indicate that Content Film Productions alleges they were promised a 50% share in the film, but the producer of SKG Entertainment, Prerna Arora, has breached the contract, which has resulted in a legal dispute.
During the controversy, director Venkat Kalyan has come forward in support of SKG Entertainment, disclosing that the deal asked Content Film Productions to invest ₹10 crores as their share in the film. He disclosed, however, that they have given only ₹60 lakhs so far, leading to the current dispute.
As the legal fight heats up, Jatadhara’s fate hangs in the balance. Industry sources and fans are looking forward to what happens next, as it might have a significant impact on the production schedule of the film as well as the release strategy.
