Dhurandhar 2 Review: Sequel offers intense action and drama

Dhurandhar: The Revenge, the much-awaited sequel to the blockbuster spy thriller Dhurandhar, has hit the theaters with sky-high expectations. After the first part broke all Netflix records with 15.8 million views in 10 days, fans were eagerly waiting to see the director Aditya Dhar continues the gripping saga of undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari.

Story – Revenge and Espionage in Lyari

After the death of Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna), tensions escalate in Lyari. Hamza Ali Mazari, aka Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh), continues his dangerous mission to dismantle Pakistan's gangster network. He manipulates Uzair Baloch's (Danish Pandor) Anger against SP Chowdary Aslam (Sanjay Dutt) and Arshad Pappu (Ashwin Dar) and orchestrated events to take control of Lyari.

The narrative follows Hamza's calculated execution of his plan in battle against the formidable Major Iqbal (Arjun Rampal). The stakes are higher, the danger greater and the emotional weight deeper than in the first film.

Performances – Ranveer Singh shines

Ranveer Singh delivers an exceptional performance in the dual role. The film features many emotionally charged moments and stands out for its nuanced acting. R. Madhavan stands out in a crucial role and his commanding screen presence enhances every scene he appears in. Arjun Rampal does well as an antagonist, while Rajat Bedi And Sara Arjun provide solid support.

Analysis – hits and misses

Aditya Dhar Dhurandhar: The Revenge begins with Jaskirat Rangi's backstory, which lays a strong emotional foundation. The Lyari gang's war sequences are handled with intensity, although the first half loses some momentum as the events seem too simple for the protagonist.

However, during the interval, the film gains momentum again with Bade Saheb's performance and his master plan, culminating in a great intermission turnaround. Things pick up significantly in the second half, danger threatens Hamza and R&AW works to make the mission a success.

The demonization episode and the subsequent revenge sequences are perfectly executed. The long climactic showdown between Jaskirat and Major Iqbal lives up to expectations and the final twist packs a punch.
