After navigating through multiple political transitions, Dasoju Sravan has finally landed a significant opportunity. BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) has entrusted him with the party’s sole MLA quota seat, despite stiff competition from RS Praveen, who was a strong contender till the final stage.
Sravan was previously nominated for an MLC position under the Governor’s quota during the BRS tenure. However, then-Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan rejected the proposal. Although KCR had the option to resubmit the nomination, he chose not to, and eventually, the Congress government filled the vacant seats with its own nominees. BRS fought a legal battle over the issue, but it did not yield favorable results.
Now, in a seeming attempt to compensate for the lost moment, KCR has personally chosen Sravan for this important assignment. With his eloquent speech and robust political insight, Sravan is likely to be a major force in lending voice to BRS in the opposition.
Sravan’s political life has been anything but eventful. He started his political career in the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) led by Pawan Kalyan. But when PRP opposed a united Andhra Pradesh, he left the party. He then joined BRS but failed to get a ticket as there was no strong support base in his community. This prompted him to move to the Congress party, where he fought from Khairatabad but lost the elections.
His stint with Congress was brief, particularly after Revanth Reddy took over as the PCC Chief. In search of greener pastures, he joined the BJP for a brief period but found it an inappropriate place. He finally moved back to BRS, where he has now been entrusted with a major political assignment.
By inducting Sravan into this key role, KCR appears to be relying on his experience and acerbic political instincts to firm up the party’s position in the opposition. With his robust public-speaking ability and thorough knowledge of political tactics, Sravan is likely to make a telling contribution in his new role.
