President Murmu Criticizes Santal Conference Setup
President Droupadi Murmu shared her disappointment during a trip to Darjeeling. She wasn’t happy with how the International Santal Conference was organized, especially the choice of venue.
Why the Venue Was a Problem
The President explained that the conference location was too remote. This made it difficult for many Santal community members to attend, which saddened her.
A Better Spot Was Available
Murmu mentioned that she saw another area nearby that could have fit about 5,000 people easily. She questioned why the event wasn’t held there instead.
Warnings Ignored?
She said her team had been told earlier that the chosen venue was overcrowded and not suitable for a large gathering, but it was still used.
Missing Leaders at the Event
The President also pointed out that no top state officials showed up. She noted that when the President visits a state, it’s usual for the Prime Minister and ministers to be present.
