Both Congress and CPM lamented that Prime Minister Narendra Modi failed to announce funds and financial assistance from the Center during the reopening of the capital Amaravati. They were furious that the TDP- Jana Dena- BJP alliance had cheated the people of the state badly.
APCC chief YS Sharmila deplored that Prime Minister Modi’s behavior was like a sloppy joke. She reminded that according to Section 94(3) of the AP Reorganization Act, the responsibility for building the new capital of New Andhra lies entirely with the Center, and the Center must provide basic facilities in the new capital.
If the Center’s duties are so clearly stated in the Reorganization Act, she asked what is Prime Minister Modi giving us? YS Sharmila alleged that in 2015, they put mud in the mouths of the people of the state, and today they have put lime in their faces. She was furious that they had betrayed the people of Andhra by saying what they said ten years ago.
“Today, they have told the same lies beautifully and cheated us again”, she said. Sharmila said that they have spoken lies saying that they will develop again and join hands. Referring that Chandrababu has told blatant lies that everything has been done for Amaravati, the dream home of five crore people, since 2015, she asked if everything is given to the people of the state, why has the construction of the capital not been completed yet.
Meanwhile, CPM State Secretary V Srinivasa Rao criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for cheating the people of the state with words once again. He said that the Prime Minister’s speech did not inspire confidence in the development of the state at all. He said that everyone knows how much of a lie it is to say that he has contributed to the construction of Amaravati in ten years.
He lamented that not a single central government office has been built in Amaravati. Moreover, he said that the Centre has not said how much funds it will provide to complete the construction of Amaravati in three years, which was not completed in ten years.
He said that the Prime Minister, who said that he had laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs. 60,000 crores in the state, has not said how much is being given for the construction of the capital. He expressed concern that if the capital is built by borrowing, the burden will fall back on the people. He urged the state government to work with all parties to recover the funds that are rightfully due from the center.
