CM Chandrababu slams `Sakshi’ Debate’s cruel comments on Amaravati women, police Registered A case

Thursday, June 19, 2025

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu strongly condemned the cruel comments made against the women of the capital Amaravati in the name of media analysis. He warned that they have gone beyond the pale in a conspiracy to spread poison on the capital, and making such cruel comments against our mothers and sisters is an unforgivable crime. To this extent, he posted a long post on X on Sunday.

“Ours is a culture of respecting women. Making cruel comments against our mothers and sisters shamelessly with political bias and in the name of media analysis is an unforgivable crime. There is no point in ignoring the cruel comments made against the personalities of the women of the capital region, calling them prostitutes”, he lamented in his post.

“I strongly condemn such perverse trends. It is even more regrettable that a former Chief Minister has still not condemned this atrocity committed through his own media and has not apologized to the women. We will take strict action against those who have gone beyond the pale in a conspiracy to spread poison on the capital and hurt the sentiments of women”, he added.

The Chief Minister assured that the coalition government that respects women and stands by their self-respect will take responsibility for checking this vile culture.

Meanwhile, Vijayawada police registered a case against senior journalist Kommineni Srinivasa Rao and another journalist Vadapalli Krishnamraju on Sunday night. Krishnamraju, who participated in a debate organized by Kommineni on Jagan’s channel two days ago, lashed out at the women of Amaravati. He commented that there are prostitutes in the capital area.

Women from NTR district complained to Patamata police on Saturday night, demanding action against KSR and Krishnamraju. Patamata police registered a case in this regard.

On the other hand, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha demanded that former Chief Ministers Jaganmohan Reddy and his wife Bharathi Reddy apologize to the people of the state and the people of Amaravati. She deplored that journalist Krishnam Raju’s reference to ‘Amaravati as the capital of prostitutes’ on Sakshi Channel had deeply hurt her and all the women. S

She wondered that neither the channel’s owner YS Bharathi Reddy nor her husband Jagan condemned his comments. She alleged that this raises the suspicion that Krishnam Raju spoke like that at their instigation. Referring to Krishnam Raju claims that there are more than 120 NGOs working for the rehabilitation of sex workers around Amaravati to support his comments, she said when she inquired with the health department officials, she found out that there are only 109 NGOs in the entire state.

She accused that Jagan has had a grudge against Amaravati from the beginning, which is why he always throws mud and incites others whenever he gets the opportunity. She recalled that YSRCP leader Botsa Satyanarayana had also compared Amaravati to a crematorium in the past.
