Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, addressing a public gathering near the Secretariat on the occasion of completing one year in office, laid out his government’s development roadmap under the banner *‘Good Governance: The First Step’*. He asserted that genuine development is possible only through effective political governance and called for coordination among officials and public representatives to work collectively like a family. Referring to the Banakacharla project, which drew objections from the Telangana government, Naidu clarified that it would not adversely affect Telangana and stressed the need for both Telugu states to utilize Godavari river water effectively.
The Chief Minister said that the alliance government secured a 94% strike rate in the elections due to public trust and promised to honour that mandate. Highlighting past administrative experience, he noted that he assumed office again at a challenging time, just as he did in 1995 and 2014. He sharply criticised the previous YSRCP regime, blaming it for driving away investors, mismanaging the Polavaram project, and weakening the state’s economic foundations. “They incurred ₹10 lakh crore debt without creating any wealth,” he alleged, adding that his government was focused on restoring investor confidence and financial discipline.
Naidu emphasised his government’s balanced focus on welfare and economic growth. He pointed to key initiatives including the recruitment of 16,347 teachers, revival of Anna canteens, repeal of the Land Titling Act, and introduction of the Anti-Land Grabbing Act. He also announced free bus travel for women from August 15. On the investment front, he said MoUs worth ₹9.34 lakh crore have been signed, generating 8.5 lakh job opportunities, and revealed plans to establish MSME parks in all 175 constituencies. The Centre’s approval for metro rail projects in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam was also highlighted.
Setting long-term goals, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his commitment to Vision 2047, aiming to make Andhra Pradesh the leading state in India by the nation’s centenary year. “We delivered on Vision 2020; now our sights are on 2047,” he said, outlining a 10-principle strategy. Naidu promised housing for all within four years, accelerated implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, and encouraged IAS officers to adopt underprivileged families. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, state ministers, and senior bureaucrats.
