The survey of Buggamatham lands in the heart of the temple city Tirupati was conducted amidst tensions. Following allegations that some of these lands were encroached upon by YSRCP leader and former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, the Buggamatham officials along with revenue and endowment officials conducted the survey.
The encroached land near Peddireddy’s house was surveyed. However, at this time, Peddireddy’s followers tried to stop them under the guise of land experts, and the officials concluded the survey with police security. The government has taken steps to solve the encroachment of Buggamatham lands worth hundreds of crores in Tirupati.
The survey undertaken by the officials to uncover the 3 acres and 88 cents of land in Buggamatham lands, which is alleged to have been encroached upon by former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy. Some people obstructed the staff and officials who came to conduct the survey. They tried to stop the survey by saying that they had been in their possession for 100 years and that they would not accept it if they were to take it over as it is now.
They tried to stop it by saying that they were ready to pay compensation for the land according to the market price and that there was no need to conduct a survey. The police, noticing that former minister Peddireddy’s followers were blocking the survey under the guise of Buggamatham land experts, took action to control them and ensure that the survey went smoothly.
Using a rover, they first identified the boundaries of 14 acres and 49 cents of land related to Buggamatham. Later, they measured the land in the area of survey numbers 261/1 and 261/2, which were allegedly occupied by former minister Peddireddy. While the land was being measured near Peddireddy’s house, some people tried to stop it again.
The police detained Peddireddy’s followers and continued the survey. Peddireddy’s followers once again blocked the Buggamatham officials who were returning after completing the survey. They argued that the officers had acted in a way that violated their freedom and how could they conduct a survey without their permission. The police intervened and sent the officers away.
