BJP Tightening Its Grip on TDP-Led coalition In AP

Thursday, March 27, 2025

If we observe the BJP candidate coming to the fore at the last minute of the finalization of MLC candidates, it is clear that the party is tightening its grip on the TDP-led alliance in the state. It is revealed that the Narendra Modi government at the Center, regardless of its strength in terms of votes in the state, is preparing to dominate the alliance government in the state.

Both TDP and Jana Sena seem to be remaining as mute spectators towards pressures from BJP top leadership in terms of seats adjustment or government policies. With the intervention of Delhi leaders, Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan are approving the demands of BJP leaders.

Recently, interesting equations have come to the fore regarding MLC seats. With this, it seems that the decisions have changed at the last minute. Although the percentage of BJP votes in AP is believed to be less than NOTA votes, the BJP’s importance in the three-party alliance is increasing.

BJP is acting strategically to increase its own strength while remaining in the alliance. The BJP’s core leadership has already told the alliance allies that they want priority in the matter of Rajya Sabha seats. Following R Krishnaiah’s resignation from the Rajya Sabha,  BJP was forced to accommodate him as its candidate in the subsequent by-poll, though he was never seen as a BJP leader.

The Rajya Sabha seat vacated by the resignation of YSRCP leader Vijayasai Reddy will also now be said to be going to the BJP. \ It is reported that Delhi leaders have already given clarity to this extent. Since the Rajya Sabha seat is being given to the BJP.. due to the competition in the TDP for the MLC seats, the TDP initially thought of giving only one seat to Jana Sena.

However, the pressure coming from the BJP for the MLC seats, Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan was alerted by the changing figures. He filed the nomination with Nagababu without waiting for the finalization of the TDP candidates. It was expected that the remaining four seats would go to the TDP.

But TDP was forced to bow down to BJP pressures by allotting a seat to them and BJP leaders managed to secure an MLC seat at the last minute, forcing the TDP to settle for three seats.
