analysis
Renowned director Priyadarshan reunites with Akshay Kumar After a long break for Bhooth Bangla, fans expected nothing less than the original magic – Bhool Bhulaiyaa's first part of the combo.
It is common knowledge that the second and third installments of the Bhool Bhulaiyaa series were not acted and directed by others Akshay Kumar And Priyadarshan. Now these expectations work in some places in the film's favor and in others against it.
There are hilarious moments in the first half of Bhooth Bangla that keep the flow going and an interesting folklore hook begins in the interval. In the second half, the backstory and its connection to folklore is explained in detail, followed by some comedy moments and a well-done climax.
Fans who expect the same setup or vintage fun Akshay Kumar And Priyadarshan I don't feel bad about the movie's predictable plot. Similar to the recent horror comedy Raakaasa, the mix of laughter and terror remains a challenge in the genre.
However, fans with higher expectations may not enjoy this Bhooth Bangla review verdict as the film is reminiscent of older horror films. There is nothing new in the script except for a brief moment in the opening act of Vasudhur's character.
The comedy works well for much of the first half of the film, but the fear factor doesn't work in the second half, where the fun takes a backseat. The climax and the twist in the final scene are fine.
Bhooth Bangla Review: Positives and Negatives
Positive
- Comedy and flow in the first half
- Introduction to the Vadhusar characters
- Emotional scenes and climax
- Star cast nostalgia
Negatives
- Routine, predictable story
- Lengthy scenes in the second half
- Overwhelming music
- Low fear factor
Final verdict
Priyadarshan And Akshay Kumar“Bhooth Bangla” turns out to be an average horror comedy. The comedy in the first half, some emotional moments in the second half and the nostalgia factor due to the star cast fit the film well. On the other hand, the predictability of the proceedings and the not-so-exciting backstory work against it.
