Director AR Murugadoss in Hot Water Over Film Budget
A big fight has broken out in the movie world between famous director AR Murugadoss and the producer of his film Madharaasi. The producer has officially complained about him to the top bosses at the Director and Producer Council.
What Happened?
The Money Problem
The main issue is money. The film Madharaasi (starring Sivakarthikeyan) was originally made with a budget of ₹115 crore. But the producer says the final cost ballooned to a massive ₹170 crore! That’s an extra ₹55 crore.
Why Did Costs Shoot Up?
The producer blames the director’s planning. They claim Murugadoss was shooting Madharaasi at the same time as his other big film, Sikandar. This split focus, they argue, caused huge delays and made everything more expensive.
The Showdown
The producer went to the Directors and Producers Council with a formal complaint. They demanded that Murugadoss pay them back ₹10 crore for the unexpected overspending.
How Was It Fixed?
The Council stepped in to mediate. Both sides eventually reached an agreement. Instead of paying cash, AR Murugadoss will write the full story for the Telugu version of Ramana 2 and give it to the producer’s company for free. This story is considered equal to the ₹10 crore compensation.
This Isn’t the First Time
Money fights between directors and producers are common. Recently, the producer of the hit film HanuMan also raised concerns about budget management with director Prasanth Varma, involving alleged issues with ₹200 crore. These cases highlight the big risks and financial pressures in making big movies.
