AP Govt. To Take Up 18 Roads In public-private partnership

After deciding to undertake the construction of state highways in public-private partnership, the AP government has decided to take up 18 roads in the first phase in private management on the lines of national highways. There are a total of 12,653 state highways in the state, of which, R&B officials said in a review that it has been estimated that 10,200 km can be constructed under PPP mode.

It has been decided to construct 18 roads in the state under PPP mode for a length of 1,307 km under the first phase. The Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu ordered that DPRs be prepared for the identified roads and work should start as soon as possible.

The construction of these roads will be undertaken through public-private partnership models such as DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer), BOT (build operative transfer), HAM (hybrid annuity model), TOT (toll, operate and transfer), OMT (operate maintain and transfer).

A total of 1,307 km of PPP routes are being constructed under the PPP method between Chilakapalem- Ramabhadrapuram-Rayagada, Vizianagaram-Palakonda, Kalingapatnam- Srikakulam-Parvathipuram, Bheemunipatnam- Narsipatnam, Kakinada- Jonnada, Kakinada- Rajamahendravaram Canal, Eluru- Medisettivaripalem, Narsapuram- Aswaraopet, Eluru- Jangareddygudem, Guntur-Parchur, Guntur- Bapatla, Mangalagiri- Tenali- Nara Kodur, Bestavaripeta- Ongole, Rajampet- Gudur, Pyapili- Banaganapalle, Damajipalle- Tadipatri, Jammalamadugu- Kolimigundla, Somandepalle- Hindupuram- Thumukunta.

Roads will be built under the policy. The CM advised the officials to take precautions regarding toll on these roads. He said that along with two- wheelers, autos and tractors, they should also discuss who else should be exempted. The CM advised the officials to examine the feasibility of collecting toll only for heavy vehicles and transport vehicles.

The CM said that the government will pay viability gap funding to road construction companies without burdening the people. The CM said that good roads and road safety for the people are the main goals of the government.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the pothole- free roads program undertaken with a budget of Rs. 861 crore in the state. He inaugurated these works in Anakapalle district on November 2. The CM ordered that these works should be completed by Sankranti. He suggested that road repairs should be carried out with full quality and that contractors should be blacklisted if the quality is not good.
