Akkineni Akhil’s long-delayed spy thriller, Agent, is in the making for nearly two years now. The Surender Reddy directional took off way back in 2020, but its release got deferred several times due to the delay in the shooting formalities following the COVID-19 pandemic and other production issues. The makers have finally announced that the film is scheduled for a grand release on April 28th. Despite taking considerable time, both Akhil and Surender Reddy are unable to wrap up the shoot till now. They are now racing against time to get the film ready for April release at any cost.

Anil Sunkara of AK Entertainment banner is bankrolling this film. His initial plan was to complete the film in less than 80 Crores budget. But, due to the inordinate delay in the production activities, the budget shot over 100 Crores and it is likely to swell further due to the extended shoot days. Reportedly, the producer is quite unhappy with Surender Reddy and Akhil because they couldn’t complete the film even after taking ample time. He is very disappointed with Surender Reddy’s poor planning and Akhil’s negligence.

Anil Sunkara is very particular to release the film on April 28th. There is still one song and some patchwork to be done. If they miss out on this date, it would be very difficult to find another ideal date. So, he is putting pressure on the team to wind up the pending portions at a jet speed. Even if they are unable to complete the remaining portions, the production house is planning to leave out the song in the final cut.

Agent stars Mamooty in a significant role and Sakshi Vaidya is the female lead. It was predominantly shot in major cities across the country.
