A Special Law For ‘HYDRA’ Very Soon

Monday, June 16, 2025

The newly constituted Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection, shortly referred as HYDRA, by the Congress government under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is currently the talking point among political and media circles. After it was launched in July this year, HYDRA immediately took on the task of clearing encroachments on lakes, ponds and buffer zones, which have been causing public inconvenience due to floods in rainy seasons

So far, HYDRA reclaimed more than 50 acres of encroached lands. After Nagarjuna’s N Convention was demolished last week, HYDRA gained massive traction among the public and there have been numerous complaints regarding illegal occupation all over the city. There are now demands to expand HYDRA all over the state and take a strict action against lawbreakers for occupying government lands.

HYDRA commisioner AV Ranganath is turning out to be a nightmare for bigwigs whose ventures are coming under the scanner of the apolitical body which is aimed to send a strong message across the state that no one will be spared in this mission.

AV Ranganath now announced that very soon a special law will be made for HYDRA to enforce it in a more effective and efficient manner to avoid further legal complications. He stated that a complete set of guidelines and rules will be incorporated to make it a law. He also revealed that special police stations will be established for HYDRA, facilitating public to submit complaints on any encroachments in its limits.

Looks like the Telangana government is firm on making HYDRA into a regulatory body under a new law and utilise it more effective.
