30 years of Babri-Masjid demolition

Friday, March 29, 2024

The sensational case of Ayodhya Ram Mandir- Babri Masjid demolition has completed 30 years as of the 6th of December. In the past 30 years, the nation saw a series of twists and turns in the case.

It all started when the BJP lead Hindu supporters rallied in the streets of Ayodhya claiming that the Babri Masjid was once the birthplace of the Hindu God Lord Rama. The over-enthusiastic protestors went on to demolish the Masjid on exactly the 6th of December, 1972 resulting in Hindu-Muslim riots and hundreds of deaths. Since then, the streets of Ayodhya were never safe and the Muslims approached the Supreme Court for justice. The Apex Court directed the Archeological Survey of India to form a team and carry out excavations in the site and the team led by a Muslim declared that they have found Hindu temple remains under the Masjid. Finally, the Supreme Court derived a verdict in 2019 stating that the land indeed belongs to Lord Rama and granted the permission to build the Ram Mandi in parallel, it granted 5 acres of land beside the mandir to construct a new Masjid in the place of demolished one.

The case indeed made many of the citizens happy whereas a few leftists still find faults. The temple construction began in 2020 and will be completed by 2024 with the funding of Ram Bhakts across the globe.
